Green Planet gives off great vibes

By Daxin Guo

We at GEDD!T always welcome new contributions from students and guests from all over the world. Here we have a first submission from Daxin Guo, who goes by the English name, Smile.

Mr. John, our Academic English teacher, took us to the Green Planet, which is one of Dubai’s best known and visited attractions.

When we first entered the building, we noticed the huge tree that takes centre stage, and it made us all very happy to see such  lush vegetation. The trip begins at the top of the tree on the fourth floor because the way this attraction is set out means you start at the top and work your way down to the to the bottom floor. You get to the top by using a lift, and once the doors open you are greeted with a pair of bright blue Macaws.  The overall structure of the small zoo is centered around this huge tree, which is man made, but there are lots of other trees and vegetation growing from it. This gives the place the feel of a natural atmosphere and while it allows the animals to feel at home, we also get to fully enjoy the beauty of nature.

According to the staff, there are more than 3,000 kinds of animals that live here. Unfortunately, many of them fell asleep while we were visiting. To my surprise, it’s hard to imagine that so many animals that usually live in different environments can all live comfortably in this one place. Bats, birds, forest animals and even desert animals are here, so you must visit here if you visit Dubai.

Summing up, this is an attraction worth visiting, because it can make you fully feel the breath of nature in the hot and dry climate of Dubai; It’s unbelievable. Here’s a suggestion:When you visit the Green Planet, remember to bring drinks, because there are no water shops inside the small zoo. However, it’s really worth visiting here, and if you have the chance, bring your family.
