Ferrari F2002 Homage to Three F1 Giants

There are millions of F1 fans across the globe and as Lewis Hamilton nears a Michael Schumacher milestone in  records, Schumacher is still considered the greatest F1 driver of all time due to his ability to win even in a poor car. Hamilton is a driver who, while skilled, doesn’t (and probably never will) have the killer instinct Schumacher had. Hamilton has even given races up for dead when he was afraid his tyrs were on the edge. That is something Schumacher would never have done as he was so “at one” with the car: he became part of it, he was in tune with the machine as a whole, he knew the engine, the gearbox, the suspension, the tyres, he could feel the response of the car like it was his skin.

This recently completed artwork, Victory & Tragedy, is an homage not only to Schumacher, but to another two racers who were Ferrari heroes, Niki Lauda and Gilles Villeneuve. Niki died recently, but was almost killed in 1976 when his car caught fire after a crash, and Gilles was killed six years later at the Belgian Grand Prix at Leuven.

The painting measures 4.5 metres X 2 metres, which is makes the car and drivers almost life size.  This following footage gives a description into the idea behind the work and covers the creation of the piece.
